About Tom McMullen
Tom McMullen took up his training to become an Osteopath/Physiotherapist in 1985 after serving 6 1/2 years in The Royal Scots as a musician/medical assistant. His initial training took place at The Northern Institute in Blackpool where over a 4-year period he gained diplomas in advanced remedial massag. Moving on from there he studied Osteopathy over a 4 year period. His interest in sport took him on to train further in Sports Injuries over another 2 year period at the FA National Rehabilitation and Sports Injury Centre at Lillieshall where he successfully gained his diploma in The Treatment and Management of Sports Injuries.
Over the years Tom has worked with a number of Sports Clubs the first being Motherwell Football Club when during the season 1988/89 he was employed as their full time Physiotherapist, he also had a short spell as masseur to Dundee United Football Club.
He played with Dunbar Rugby Football Club and worked with other East Lothian Clubs such as, Musselburgh RFC, and also Preston Lodge RFC. He was delighted to receive a phone call, in autumn of 1991, to see if he would be interested in becoming the physiotherapist for Boroughmuir Rugby Football Club, which he undertook until the summer of 1997.
While working with BRFC, Tom was approached to work with The Scottish Rugby Union National Squad, he also travelled as Physiotherapist to The Scottish Students World Cup in Italy in 1992. Since then Tom has toured with the full Scottish National Squad to Argentina in 1994, South Africa in 1995 for the Rugby World Cup and also to New Zealand for the tour in 1996.
Tom also has run for the past 15 years his own private clinic in Dunbar namely, Dunbar Physiotherapy, Osteopathy and Sports Injury Clinic, which is, now based at Slenderzone 21 West Port, Dunbar, East Lothian . As the name suggests Tom uses his training in Osteopathy combined with Physiotherapy and Sports Injuries to treat a wide range of clients from all walks of life for numerous complaints such as Low Back Pain, Sciatica, Lumbago, Neck Pain, Frozen Shoulder, Sprains and Strains and many more.
